Justin Herbert Week 5 Outlook - Commanders at Chargers

Herbert has been playing some high-level football this season. Despite falling to Jaxson Dart in his debut, the Chargers have been one of the best teams in the league. However, this matchup may be a trap. On paper, the Commanders are allowing the seventh most fantasy points to the QB position. Their secondary does not pose as a threat to Quiton Johnston, Keenan Allen, and Ladd McConkey, but their defensive line might. The Chargers lost star offensive lineman Joe Alt to a high ankle sprain last week. After losing Rashawn Slater in the offseason, losing two elite linemen may be difficult to overcome. The Commanders have pressured the QB on 17.7% of plays, which is the 11th highest in the league. Start Herbert as a decent QB1 this week, but don't overlook what these offensive line injuries may mean for this offense as a whole.
