It was a knee injury that looked like it could be a career-ender, but Meredith latched on with the Saints this offseason and will now be catching passes from Drew Brees. Shortly after snagging him, the Saints cut ties with Willie Snead, opening up the slot role that Meredith played so well while with the Bears. Meredith's sample size is relatively small, but when you rack up 888 yards and four touchdowns from Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley, there's plenty of optimism. The issue is that Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Ted Ginn, and maybe even Ben Watson are ahead of him in the pecking order. He's likely to have some big weeks, but I wouldn't expect a weekly contributor.

Cameron Meredith 'way ahead of schedule'

Jeff Duncan of writes that wide receiver Cameron Meredith is "way ahead of schedule" according to head coach Sean Payton. Meredith tore his ACL last preseason and missed the entire 2017 season. New Orleans signed the 25-year-old restricted free agent and he's expected to replace Willie Snead as the Saints' slot receiver.

Fantasy Impact

Meredith was very good in 2016, catching 66 passes for 888 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games with Chicago. If he is fully healthy by Week 1, as expected, Meredith is in an excellent position to potentially command 80+ targets for the high-octane Saints offense. Meredith is a strong sleeper candidate to target in the back-end of PPR drafts.
