Kevin Wheeler The Draft Zone | he'll be active for the season opener assuming he doesn't have a setback.
Isaiah Sirois FantasyPros | Despite the questionable tag, Corey Davis should be good to go for Monday Night Football. There's a good chance that he draws Denver's new corner, A.J. Bouye, in coverage this week, and Bouye shut Davis down for three catches and 44 yards the last time the two played each other. Davis brings neither a consistent floor or much upside to the table, so I'd avoid starting him in either redraft or DFS.
Site Rankings FullTime Fantasy | Game time decision.
Mike Tagliere FantasyPros | We saw the numbers with A.J. Brown dramatically increase when Ryan Tannehill came on the field, but why didn't we see a bump from Davis? Well, it does help that Tannehill and Brown were working together as backups prior to the 2019 season in training camp. Now that Davis has had some time to work with Tannehill, we could see a bump in production. If the Broncos are going to use A.J. Bouye to shadow anyone, it'd be Brown, and that would leave Davis against Devontae Harris, who was destroyed in coverage last year, allowing 31/296/3 on just 44 targets in coverage. The Broncos cornerback depth is one of the biggest weaknesses on their team, and the Titans should be exploiting that, depending on who's lined up against Harris. Here's something that could blow your mind: Davis has totaled 21 targets over his last five games, while Brown saw 20 targets in that span. You can't start Davis knowing how bad he was throughout 2019, but don't be surprised if he makes a splash now that Brown is seeing a lot more attention. *Update* He's apparently dealing with a hamstring injury that had him limited in practice this week. | He's been sidelined in training camp with a hamstring injury and has been ruled week-to-week, though Kyle Shanahan says that he "hopes" Aiyuk will be ready for the opener. It's tough saying that you should want to play him, though. He's a rookie coming off a soft tissue injury with no in-game experience. He's going to see a lot of Patrick Peterson, too. The 49ers targeted their wide receivers just 228 times last year, which was the fourth-fewest in the league, so unless we know a player is going to get a big target share, we should probably proceed with caution. The Cardinals were a matchup to target with receivers throughout last year, which makes us take a second look at Aiyuk to ensure we aren't missing opportunity. There were 20 wide receivers who finished top-30 against the Cardinals last year, and every single one of them saw at least six targets. There's no way we can guarantee that for Aiyuk, as there were just eight times where a 49ers receiver saw more than six targets last year. With the risk of a soft tissue injury popping back up, Aiyuk is a risky WR4/5 option. |
Kyle Yates FantasyPros | If Aiyuk is fully healthy, he's worth a shot as a FLEX play if you're in a pinch. However, if you can afford to, I'd look elsewhere at the WR position. He comes with injury concerns and the 49ers should rely heavily on their run game to walk away with the victory against the Cardinals. |
