Donald Gibson FantasyPros | Gesicki has a solid matchup and has scored in two straight weeks. He has been largely inconsistent and should be nothing more than a desperate streaming option. He's a mid-tier TE2.
Mike Tagliere FantasyPros | After failing to score a touchdown in each of his first 26 career games, Gesicki has scored in each of the last two games. He's seen at least six targets in each of the last five games, which is massive at the unpredictable position, and even catches a break this week as safety Jamal Adams is looking extremely unlikely to play. He's easily the best player in their secondary and the one responsible for taking care of the tight end most of the time. If he's out, it'd be a massive upgrade. Gesicki did total 6/95/0 against them back in Week 9 with Adams, so it clearly wasn't a scheme Fitzpatrick struggled with. There have been seven tight ends who've totaled at least 41 yards against the Jets, though they've allowed just two touchdowns, which has kept the fantasy totals down. Gesicki is getting enough targets to be considered a low-end TE1 and would get a nice bump if Adams sits. | It seems the Bengals are finally moving on from the old, creaky, washed version of Tyler Eifert, as he fell behind Uzomah in both snaps, routes, and targets last week. Both of them dropped a pass in the end zone last week, so it's just a bad time all around. The matchup against the Browns has been a good one for tight ends, so we should at least consider the idea of streaming one of them. Of the seven tight ends who've seen more than three targets against the Browns, six of them have finished as top-16 options, including five of them finishing as top-eight options. The 1.96 PPR points per target they've allowed is tied for the fifth highest mark to tight ends, though teams have seldomly targeted their tight ends against them, as evidenced by the 5.8 targets per game, which ranks as the ninth-fewest in football. Still, Dalton does average 41.7 pass attempts per game in his nine starts, so there are targets to go around. While it's impossible to say Uzomah is more than a middling TE2, he's not the worst option if you're in a real pinch. |
Bobby Sylvester FantasyPros | The Jets have been among the toughest matchups versus tight ends over the last two years because they have Jamal Adams who just locks down opposing tight ends. He is out this week though, along with half of the Jets defense. In every game since Preston Williams was injured, Gesicki has at least 6 targets in each of the last five weeks and is second among tight ends in air yards during the time. That should translate nicely with Devante Parker likely bracketed.
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | The Jets are 5th against fantasy tight ends, but you never know which version of the Jets will show up. Gesicki is a boom / bust TE2 this week.
Heath Capps Fake Teams | A sneaky 5-51 performance on 6 targets last week, but not something to bank on--especially with John Ross expected to return.
Zach Brunner FantasyPros | The second-year, second-round TE is finally showing why he was drafted so high. He has seen at least six targets in each of the past five games. This has resulted in him catching 21 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns. This ranks him as TE6 over this span. Gesicki has also caught touchdowns in back-to-back games, being a big part of the Dolphins' offensive success. In the first matchup against the Jets, Gesicki caught six passes for 95 yards, showing his upside in this week's matchup. |
