Mike Tagliere FantasyPros | Since joining the team, Hunt has now outscored Chubb in three of four games if you're playing in a PPR format. Hunt is doing a lot with a little, and those targets are worth more than twice as much as carries are. If you were ever looking for a game for these two back to simply go wild, this is it. The Bengals have faced an average of 29.5 running back touches per game this year, which is more than enough touches to go around. Even better? They've allowed a well-above-average 4.67 yards per carry, 7.38 yards per target, and consistently struggle with tackling. Chubb and Hunt have combined to break 84 tackles this year, which is the most of any duo in football. Knowing the volume will be there, combined with their efficiency and tackle-breaking potential, and this has multiple touchdown game written all over it. They have allowed 12 different running backs to total 14.2 or more PPR points against them, which is tied for the Lions as the most in the NFL. Chubb is an elite RB1 who has totaled at least 20 carries in eight of his last 10 games. While his lack of usage in the passing game is a bit frustrating, he's worthy of cash games this week. | We're not likely going to know Cook's status and how much he'll play until Sunday, and even then, there's likely going to be smoke and mirrors. Cook did say he'll play in that game, but if you remember last year like I do, you remember him saying a similar sentiment before their game with the Rams where he went out and re-injured himself, then missed four weeks. Stay tuned for updates on Saturday morning at the bottom of these notes. After starting the year allowing everyone to run through their defense, the Lions have turned things around over the last month. Over their last four games they've allowed 274 yards on 77 carries (3.56 yards per carry) with just one rushing touchdown. They did play the Bears twice and the Redskins during that stretch, two teams who've had trouble running the ball all season, though it's still a step in the right direction. They've seen an average of 28.3 touches per game to running backs, which is more than enough for the timeshare between these two, though they did total a massive 33 touches in the Week 7 meeting. Cook rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns in that game, highlighting just how well their zone scheme works against Matt Patricia's defense. If he gets back to practice and has no limitations, Cook should be locked into lineups as an RB1 but if the Vikings pull out front early, he's likely finding a warm spot on the bench. Mattison is more of a play if you're betting on the Vikings blowing the Lions out in order for the Vikings to rest Cook in the second half. That's always risky to count on, though if there were one game you could rely on it more than others, it's this one. |
Donald Gibson FantasyPros | Chubb had his worst rushing performance of the season in Week 13, gaining only 58 yards on 16 carries. He's still an RB1, though, against a Bengals team that should see the Browns running close to 30 times, and Hunt should get about 70% of those carries.
Zach Brunner FantasyPros | Cook appears to have no risk of missing this week, but the Vikings could, and should, limit his workload against the Lions. In blowouts this season, we have seen Cook get a heavy workload, then sit much of the final quarter. In what is expected to see a one-sided affair, we could see Mattison get worked in a bit more early, then use him exclusively late in the game. Despite the workload risk, Cook is still an RB1 this week, since three quarters of him against the Lions is more valuable than most RBs in full games.
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | The Bengals are 27th against fantasy running backs, Chubb is a solid RB1 at home in a great matchup. | Cook seems like he should be healthy enough to play this week through his shoulder injury. If he is active he has the Lions 30th ranked fantasy running back at home. |
