Jacob Wayne Lineups | T.Y. Hilton has to be thrilled about getting a massive improvement at quarterback as the Colts shift from Jacoby Brissett and Brian Hoyer to Philip Rivers. The Jaguars' defense is putrid across the board, meaning the Colts may not need to throw a ton in this game. However, Hilton is by far the best receiver on this team and this is an easy opportunity for Rivers to establish good early-season chemistry with his new top receiver. While the passing volume is a concern, Hilton should be viewed as a solid WR2 this week. | The Buccaneers allowed the most fantasy points per game to wide receivers last season and this game has one of the higher over/under totals on the week, making Sanders an intriguing flex option. The Bucs excel against the run, meaning the Saints will need to go to the air a fair amount. Sanders showed he still has plenty left in the tank last season with the 49ers and he'll be catching passes from a future first-ballot Hall of Famer in Drew Brees. Sanders should be viewed as a strong WR4/flex option with upside this week. |
Isaiah Sirois FantasyPros | Finally, T.Y. Hilton has a gunslinger throwing him the ball again! Two of Philip Rivers' wide receivers finished in the top-12 for air yards last season (Keenan Allen and Mike Williams), and while not all of those targets were catchable, Hilton should see enough deep looks this week to post at least a WR3 finish. He should have an easy job, given that the Jaguars purged their roster of talent in the offseason, and cornerbacks D.J. Hayden and C.J. Henderson don't seem like they'll be able to stop Hilton on every play. My only concern here is that the Colts could get out to an early lead without a big play from Hilton and then run the ball. That said, I'm still penciling him in for at least a WR3 result.
Mike Tagliere FantasyPros | After missing the start of training camp with a hamstring, Hilton came back and reportedly became Philip Rivers' favorite target. The Jaguars used to be a team to fear for wide receivers, as Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye were potentially the best duo in the league. Those days are gone. The starting cornerbacks for the Jaguars this year will be first-round rookie C.J. Henderson and Tre Herndon. We know that Henderson has never seen NFL game action, not even preseason. Herndon is someone who played well in a pinch last year, allowing 643 yards and four touchdowns on 76 targets in coverage, though he never saw opposing No. 1 receivers. They're likely going to play sides here, so Frank Reich and Rivers can pick/choose their matchup for Hilton. He's the one sturdy presence in the passing game and should see six-plus targets here, though you have to wonder how much the Colts need to drop back and pass while heavy favorites. If Hilton is healthy, which it appears he is, you want to start him as a WR3. It's best to be cautious in DFS, as it's his first game action with a new quarterback. | He's now 33 years old and starting with a new team. It's not going to be an easy transition but playing with Drew Brees should make it a tad easier. It's also good to know that Sanders won't have to go against top-tier cornerbacks anymore. The Bucs are likely going to play sides and not shadow, but I'd expect Sanders to see the most of Sean Murphy-Bunting in coverage most of the time. He allowed 51-of-71 passing in his coverage last year, which is a high 71.8 percent catch-rate, but they only went for 10.4 yards per reception. That's right in Sanders' wheelhouse, but it's unlikely he gets enough targets to make a big impact in your fantasy lineup. He should be good for 4-6 targets and WR4/5-type production, though he doesn't come with a massive ceiling. |
Kyle Yates FantasyPros | Sanders is stepping into this offense as the clear WR2 behind Michael Thomas. MT will see all the targets he can handle in this matchup, which doesn't leave Sanders with much left over. If you do end up starting Sanders, you're hoping for a touchdown and that's not a great spot to be as a fantasy manager. Sanders is a WR5 this week.
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | The Jaguars are in complete rebuild mode this year and Hilton should have a new lease on life with Philip Rivers behind center. Hilton is a WR2 with upside in the opener. |
