7th among RBs in FAN PPG over past 2 seasons (better than Cook, Henry, Mixon, to name a few), but in a prove-it season health wise - figure he's playing for his future in PIT
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Conner was tremendous in 2018 but had an injury-riddled 2019 season and the entire offense was sluggish with Big Ben hurt. Now that both are back, Conner possesses RB1 upside but there is also risk of him not playing due to underlying health conditions.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It seemed like he picked up in 2019 right where he left off in 2018, as he was the No. 4 wide receiver through nine weeks, but then trailed off as the year went on. He was just the No. 61 wide receiver from Week 10 through Week 16 while D.K. Metcalf emerged, and that continued into the playoffs. It's likely we see more pass attempts out of the Seahawks in 2020, so there should be room for both Lockett and Metcalf to be WR2/3 options with WR1 upside nearly every week.If Conner were able to stay on the field, he'd be considered as a top-10 running back in fantasy. Unfortunately, he hasn't done that, and it's led them to draft Jaylen Samuels, Benny Snell, and now Anthony McFarland. While none of them are better than Conner, it's likely we see them take some of the workload away from him in 2020.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
If Conner stays healthy this year, he's almost certainly going to be a draft-day bargain. Through Week 7, before his season was derailed by injury, he was on pace for more than 1400 total yards and 14 touchdowns. Mike Tomlin has come out and essentially stated that Conner is going to be a workhorse back, and he may get even more work in the receiving game if Ben Roethlisberger doesn't push it downfield as much as he used to after elbow surgery. In other words, it's just health with Conner. If he has it, he should be no worse than an extremely strong RB2 in half- or full-PPR leagues.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Weeks 1-9 last season, he was the WR3 overall. He suffered a scary leg injury in Week 10 and was never the same afterward. He still finished as the WR13 for the season. @SWallace_FF In 2019, Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett ranked: 4th in yards gained on slot routes (770), 1st in touchdowns on slot routes (6), 11th in yards gained on 20+ yards downfield targets (379), 9th in receiving TDs (8) @EvanSilva - Tyler Lockett does not get a lot of targets, but the ones he does get are high leverage for fantasy. @LordReebs
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
People are quick to write Conner off, but injuries are the only difference from this season to last where he was being drafted as a first-round pick. In fact, Big-Ben is back, so Conner should have more running lanes than he did last season when he excelled. From weeks 1-8 last season, Conner saw almost 18 touches per game, was sixth among RBs in fantasy points per snap, and forced the second-most missed tackles on receptions. He's also played at least 10 games every year of his career and is an RB1 whenever he's on the field. He's easily worth the third round pick.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Lockett's most likely going to play second-fiddle to Metcalf this season, but there are still going to be plenty of targets to go his way. Lockett's going to hover around WR2 territory all season long, but has the talent and rapport with Russell Wilson to finish even higher than that.Conner's a dicey pick, but that seems to be built into his ADP right now. If everything goes his way this season, Conner will drastically outperform where he's being drafted right now. However, we just simply don't know at this point whether or not he's going to remain healthy for all 16 games. In fact, I might bet against that happening.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Tyler Lockett put together another impressive season, breaking 1000 yards for the first time on the back of five 100+ yard performances and 8 TDs. His many bust weeks are a concern but the worries don't end there. D.K. Metcalf is a possibility to really impact his target share, as are quality tight ends Greg Olsen and Jacob Hollister. It's also worth monitoring the Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown rumours which won't go away. Ultimately he's a boom/bust mid-round pick with strong upside who has major floor issues but excellent weekly upside. Don't get sucked in too early. What an awful season 2019 proved to be for those who draft James Conner in the first round of drafts. Big Ben was injured, the offence fell apart, Conner's body fell apart and other backs like Benny Snell, Jaylen Samuels and even Kerrith Whyte (who oddly didn't look too bad) swarmed in. With Ben back, Conner ripped like a flying squirrel and another RB in 4th rounder Anthony McFarland in the mix, 2020 has turned into a real crap shoot. With a 4th round price tag though, Conner might just be worth the risk as an upside gamble returning to a good offence where he should be the lead back.
Bart Wheeler
Hail to Fantasy Football
As long as he's healthy, he has RB1 potential. Up.
Seth Miller
Crossroads Fantasy Football
18 TDs in the last 2 years on 180 targets(about a 19% target share). I'm not complaining about the TDs and he had a career high 110 targets in 2019 but TDs are not sticky and I think he might just play the highly efficient second fiddle to D.K.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Lockett did have a solid season with 1052 yards from scrimmage and 8 touchdowns, but he seemed to take a backseat to Metcalf at times in the second half of the 2018 season. I think Lockett will be more of a WR3 than a WR2 in 2020 and he could likely be the second option in the passing game.Conner went from 1,470 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns in 2018 to 715 yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns in 2019. The big issue for me is durability, Conner has RB1 talent, but missed 3 games in 2018 and 6 games last year. He has a lot of upside due to his ability, but a lot of downside due to his durability.
