Ryan Ellis will not be ready when season opens

Ryan Ellis is still recovering from knee surgery and will miss the start of the regular season. The injury which happened during the Predators Stanley Cup run is expected to take 4-6 months to heal which puts his return at around December. (NHL.com)

The 26-year old defenseman posted career highs last season with 16 goals, 38 points and a plus-17 rating in 71 regular season games. With a loaded defense core Nashville can be patient with Ellis and gear towards another long playoff run.
