Rick Nash is no longer a must own fantasy player

Rick Nash is to be an unrestricted free agent after this season. “Rick Nash has never been an unrestricted free agent, but the veteran Ranger who will be 34 years old when free agency begins next summer is entering the final year of his contract, which carries a $7.8 million cap hit.” NyDailyNews.com reports (nydailynews.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Although this is the final year on Rick Nash’s contract, I don’t see much fantasy improvement this year. Rick Nash is no longer the point producer he was a few years back. His point production is what gave him his fantasy value. The absence of point production makes Rick Nash a fantasy liability since he won’t be providing any value to the other stat categories. Rick Nash will be a solid name to have on a fantasy roster but perhaps on the bench.
