Nate Schmidt close to 100 percent as Vegas opens training camp

Nate Schmidt proclaimed himself close to 100 percent after sustaining an ankle injury while training in August. It is unclear if he will be playing in their first preseason game Sunday in Vancouver. (NHL.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Schmidt will likely be one of the Golden Knights top defensemen this season providing valuable leadership and experience as the new squad comes together. Last season he posted three goals and 14 assists with a plus-22 rating with Washington. While he may have an opportunity to produce more offensively in a top four defense role his rating will take an obvious hit whike playing for an expansion team instead of the Capitals.
