McDavid capped his excellent night with the last Oiler goal of the game at 17:46 of the third as he buried a Jesse Puljujarvi setup on an odd man rush. Prior to that he set up Puljujarvi in similar fashion just 4 minutes earlier as did he with Milan Lucic 2-on-1 in the last minute of the second on a powerplay. His first point of the game was maybe his finest, as he sliced through the Columbus D with speed, drew multiple defenders and dropped one to Matt Benning in the high slot to make it 3-0 Oilers at 16:41 in the second.
McDavid has 12 goals and 27 assists in 31 games this season. With his outburst, he is now third in the scoring race behind only Stamkos and Kucherov.
