William Nylander, Leafs remain in stalemate

by John Pritchard | Maple Leafs Correspondent | Wed, Sep 26th 3:31pm EDT

TSN is reporting that there is "no sense of imminent breakthrough" in the Maple Leafs contract negotiations with 22-year-old restricted free-agent C/RW William Nylander. (Bob McKenzie on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

There's nothing yet to indicate Nylander wants out of Toronto, but the club is trying to negotiate an extension with the 20-goal-scorer knowing full-well they need to preserve cap space for their other young guns Auston Matthews and Mitchell Marner next offseason. While he's currently inactive, Nylander is still worthy of an early round select-and-stash until his contract situation is resolved. He can be expected to regain his spot next to Auston Matthews and Patrick Marleau if and when he does hit the ice with Maple Leafs.
