David Pastrnak to miss at least two weeks with injured thumb

by Ryan Whitfield | Bruins Correspondent | Wed, Feb 13th 2:04pm EST

David Pastrnak reportedly fell after a team sponsorship dinner on Sunday night and injured his thumb. Pastrnak had surgery on the injured thumb Tuesday and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. GM Don Sweeney said that in two weeks the Bruins will have a better understanding of when Pastrnak can return.

Fantasy Impact:

Pastrnak was having a career season and this development is devastating for Pastrnak, the Bruins and fantasy owners. Injuries of this sort can last 4-6 weeks which means Pastrnak is in jeopardy of missing fantasy playoffs. Danton Heinen had been recently moved up onto the Bergeron-Marchand line to more evenly distribute the Bruins scoring. This move has sparked Heinen to six points in four games, and with Pastrnak down, there seems to be no threat of him being demoted any time soon.
