Nathan Mackinnon scores empty-netter

by Jeremy Farr | Avalanche Correspondent | Sun, Mar 17th 6:30pm EDT

Nathan Mackinnon scored the third of three goals the Avs hung on the visiting New Jersey Devils, beating them 3-0 Sunday afternoon. He stuffed the stat sheet providing a goal, an assist, a plus-2 rating, two penalty minutes, a team-high six shots, three hits and two blocks.

Fantasy Impact:

Mackinnon's goal was an easy one as he had the puck fed up to him along the boards. He burned past the Devils' last line of defense and floated it in. The more impressive of the two points was his assist on Tyson Barrie's goal. He single handedly dangled around three New Jersey defenders, and left a tater teed up for Barrie to shoot home. The points bring him up to 37 goals and 54 assists on the season and his six points off his career best with 11 games remaining. The Avalanche are in wildcard contention so there's no reason to think he will take it easy in the fantasy home stretch.
