Semyon Varlamov notches 19th win of the season

by Jeremy Farr | Islanders Correspondent | Wed, Apr 3rd 11:48am EDT

Semyon Varlamov was the winning goalie on Tuesday night, backstopping the Avalanche to a huge 6-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. He stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced.

Fantasy Impact:

It was his first start since March 15th vs Anaheim and he held his ground well. Surely, the goal that Darnell Nurse scored on him he'd want back as he limped a shot on him from the goal line that banked off his inner arm and went in. Aside from that he performed when he needed to and helped the Avs keep the trailing Arizona Coyotes in check with two games remaining. The win brings him to 19-18-9 with a respectable 2.86 GAA and .910 save percentage this year. Grubauer has been playing well lately so don't be surprised to see Varly take a seat in the next one.
