Alex Ovechkin with assist for Capitals in season-ending loss

Alex Ovechkin registered an assist in Washington’s Game 7 double-overtime loss to Carolina Wednesday. He was also a minus-two with four shots-on-goal for the contest. Ovechkin ends the playoffs with four goals, five assists, and nine total points.

Fantasy Impact:

Ovechkin’s assist came when he beat Carolina defender Jaccob Slavin with a beautiful toe-drag and found Tom Wilson for a first period goal. While his season ends on an incredibly sour note, the 33-year-old Russian superstar showed little sign of slowing down this season, recording his eighth-career 50-goal campaign. Ovechkin has not eclipsed 100 points since the 2009-2010 season but should continue to provide elite fantasy goal, shot, and power-play point totals moving forward, keeping him firmly in the first-round conversation for next season.
