Connor McDavid was named a finalist Thursday for the Ted Lindsay Award given annually to the most outstanding player in the NHL as voted by members of the NHLPA. McDavid is joined by Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks and Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning as finalists for the award. (Yahoo!)

Fantasy Impact:

No surprises here, as Kucherov, McDavid, and Kane were the three leading scorers in the league this season. There may be some temptation to take Kucherov with the number one selection in fantasy drafts next year after he posted an eye-popping 128 points in 2018-2019, but don’t overthink it. McDavid remains the best player in the world, and though he won’t provide you much in the penalty minutes department, his scoring statistics are as bankable as they come. It will be worth monitoring the status of his rehab from a knee injury he suffered at the end of the season, but if he progresses as planned, and is ready for the start of training camp, draft him with confidence first overall.
