New York Islanders forward Valtteri Filppula has signed a two-year $3 million deal with the Detroit Red Wings Monday. (Detroit Free Press)
Fantasy Impact:
Filppula spent his first eight seasons with the Red Wings, where he scored 100 goals and 251 points. He even was a part of Detroit's Stanley Cup championship team in 2008 when they defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins. Although older (35), Filppula will provide a much necessary leadership presence in a young and inexperienced Detroit locker room heading into the 2019-20 season.
