John Tavares scored the Maple Leafs first goal of the game in what was an eventual 4-2 win over the Minnesota Wild. It was his second of the season.
The goal total so far might be a bit lower than expected considering he sniped a career-high 47 a season ago, but his shot total this season is what's most alarming. Tavares only has 10 shots on goal through seven games. That's simply not going to cut it for a sniper. He's still managed to provide six points (two goals, four assists) in seven games to salvage this "downswing" to open the year, but he needs to start creating more opportunities to reach the lofty goal expectations set for him.
