Pavel Francouz just misses shutout

by Jeremy Farr | Sat, Dec 14th 10:23am EST

Pavel Francouz backstopped the Avalanche to a 3-1 home victory over the New Jersey Devils on Friday. He stopped 37 of the 38 shots he faced.

Fantasy Impact:

Francouz was denied (for a second straight game) a shutout as the Devils scored late in the game (again). The goal was unfortunately deflected off Sam Girard's stick while trying to block a centering pass and redirected through his five hole. Other than that Francouz has looked excellent as the Avs' number two. He's very nimble in the crease and rocks the righty glove hand well. He's 9-2-0-1 this season with a .932 save percentage and 2.26 GAA. He's made the most of his opportunities while Grubauer was hurt and is making it look like they may be able to deploy both goalies effectively. He is definitely worth an add for spot starts and if you can find a roster spot for him in the short term, he's a good bet as a mainstay to see how this situation pans out.
