Francouz not so solid in defeat

by Jeremy Farr | Sat, Jan 11th 4:43am EST

Pavel Francouz was the losing goalie in Friday night's 4-3 OT home loss to the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins. He stopped 26 of the 30 shots he faced.

Fantasy Impact:

Francouz has looked nimble and on the ball between the pipes for the Avs but seems to have taken a step back over the last three starts (0-3 with ten goals against). Two of the goals that went in were of the softer variety and found their way through his five hole. The other two he couldn't be blamed for. After coming out of the gates strong, Francouz has cooled off. He still holds a very nice 11-4-0-2 record with a 2.41 GAA and .926 GAA. Keep an eye on him as a spot starter but the Avalanche are slumping right now and that should be considered if you're deploying him for fantasy purposes.
