Mikko Rantanen suffers broken collarbone

by Jeremy Farr | Avalanche Correspondent | Tue, Feb 18th 10:54am EST

Mikko Rantanen was tripped up during the game vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning and crashed into the boards. He was slow to get to his skates and immediately left the ice. It's reported that he will out for 6-8 weeks to recover. (Adrian Dater of ColoradoHockeyNow.com)

Fantasy Impact:

A disaster from both the fantasy and real-life perspective. Rantanen is a key component in Colorado's system and there will no doubt be a big hole to fill. The Avalanche have overcome injuries this year however as they lost both Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen for extended periods. This should give Andre Burakovsky or Valeri Nichushkin a chance to step up and pick up the slack.
