Ben Bishop good enough to win on opening night

by Julius Bzozowski | Stars Correspondent | Fri, Oct 9th 12:25am EDT

Lightning G Ben Bishop stopped two penalty shots, and was able to pick up the win as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Flyers 3-2 in overtime. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Bishop made 23 saves on 25 shots faced, including 13 saves in a scoreless first period. However, Bishop did allow two goals (including a power play goal) on only three shots in the second period. Fortunately for the Lightning, Bishop rebounded and blocked all six shots of the shots he faced in the third period and all three of the shots he faced in the overtime period. The biggest saves of the night were the two penalty shots he stopped: one attempt by Flyers C Claude Giroux in regulation and one attempt by Flyers C Scott Laughton in overtime. Despite not having to make the same acrobatic saves Flyers G Steve Mason did, Bishop ended the night with a .920 save percentage and a W.
