Overview

What is the Fantasy Over/Under Challenge?
The Fantasy Over/Under Challenge is a weekly contest that lets you track your fantasy football accuracy to see how you stack up vs. the FantasyPros community. Each week we’ll ask 10 player-specific fantasy point “Over or Under” questions. For example: “Will Saquon Barkley score Over or Under 20 fantasy points in week 1?”. A record of your picks will be kept to analyze the accuracy. You’ll be able to view your performance and ranking at FantasyPros.com.

Does it cost anything to play?
No. The Fantasy Over/Under Challenge is completely free to play.

How many weeks does the competition run?
The contest lasts from weeks 1 to 18 during the 2023 NFL season.

When the does the contest open and close each week?
We unveil the matchups every Wednesday during the NFL season. You will have until 1pm ET on Sunday to submit your picks.

Can I adjust my picks after I’ve submitted an entry?
Yes, you can change your picks before the competition locks each Sunday at 1pm ET.

Scoring

How do you set the fantasy point Over/Unders for each player?
The fantasy points are based on our weekly projections. Our projections represent a consensus of the top projection sources from around the web so they are a strong gauge of each player’s outlook. In choosing the 10 players to feature each week, we try our best to select players that have interesting storylines or matchups. In other words, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever ask you to predict an Over or Under for the Texans’ 3rd string RB (sorry, Texans fans!).

What scoring settings do you use for the fantasy points?
We use Yahoo’s default scoring settings, which is a Half PPR format. The full settings are below.

Each reception 0.5 pts
Every 25 passing yards 1 pt
Each passing TD 4 pts
Each interception thrown -1 pt
Every 10 rushing yards 1 pt
Each rushing TD 6 pts
Every 10 receiving yards 1 pt
Each receiving TD 6 pts
Each Kick/Punt return TD 6 pts
Each Off Fum Ret TD 6 pts
Each 2-point conversion 2 pts
Each fumble lost -2 pts

What happens if a player misses the game?
In the event that a player is declared inactive prior to the start of a game (or a game is forfeited), all predictions for that player will be zeroed out and will NOT be included for scoring purposes for that week. If the player is active but does not play or he is active but gets injured during the game, the predictions for the player will be scored.

Prizes

Can I win something?
Yes! There are weekly prizes and a season-long grand prize:

WEEKLY PRIZES
The top scorer each week will win a free 1-year upgrade to FantasyPros and BettingPros Premium. Additionally, FantasyPros will be offering $20 gift cards to the top 10 participants each week. These gift cards can be redeemed at the FantasyPros Shop for apparel such as FantasyPros t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and more. Legal residents from the United States are eligible to win the gift cards.

SEASON LONG/GRAND PRIZE
The top finisher on the season long leaderboard will receive a 10-year subscription to FantasyPros and BettingPros Premium.

How do I know if I won?
By providing your email address upon submitting your picks, we’ll be able to contact you by email when accuracy results are ready to be viewed. Information on whether you won and how to receive your prize(s) will be provided in the email.

How often can I play?
You are only allowed to play once per week. Any participant that attempts to submit more than one entry per week will be automatically disqualified from any and all prizes and will not be tracked in our accuracy leaderboards.

Leaderboard

Can I miss a week and still qualify for the season-to-date leaderboard (and grand prize)?
Yes, you can miss 2 weeks and still qualify for the overall leaderboard. Your 2 lowest weekly scores will be dropped when we compute your overall score for the final leaderboard standings. If you missed 2 weeks, for example, those will count as your 2 lowest scores that are dropped. Specifically, we will begin dropping your lowest score after week 5 and we’ll start dropping your 2 lowest scores after week 10. Therefore, even if you miss a week or two early, you can still participate and you’ll eventually appear in the leaderboard if you keep making picks each week.

How are the weekly leaderboard standings determined?
Every week there will be 10 Over/Under fantasy point questions posed. The weekly leaderboard will be based on who answered the most questions correctly with “Wins” and “Losses” recorded for correct and incorrect predictions, respectively. 10 out of 10 wins will be the highest score for a particular week. In the event that a player’s fantasy point total lands exactly on the Over/Under amount, the prediction will be recorded as neither a Win nor Loss. There will also be a tie-breaker question that asks each participant to submit a prediction for fantasy points scored that week. For instance, a tie-breaker question could be: “How many fantasy points do you think all the players listed above will score in total?”. If you’re tied with other users in the leaderboard (e.g. you all answered 8 out of 10 questions correctly), the person that is closest on the tiebreaker question will appear the highest in the standings.

How are the season-to-date leaderboard standings determined?
We add up each user’s weekly scores to determine the order of the standings. After week 5, we drop the 2 lowest weekly scores as part of the calculation. At the end of 18 weeks, if there is a tie atop the leaderboard, we will break it in the following way:

  1. For the weeks that contributed to a participant’s score, we sum up the absolute value of how far off they were across the tiebreaker questions. Whoever has a smaller sum of errors will appear higher in the leaderboard.
  2. If the above doesn’t break the tie, we will use the tiebreaker question from week 18 (or the most recent tie-breaker the user answered) to determine the order of standings.
  3. If there is still a tie after #1 and #2, we will use the tiebreaker question from week 17 (or the most recent tie-breaker the user answered) to determine the order of standings. We’ll continue going down the weeks (e.g. week 16, week 15, etc) until the tie is broken.

What happens with the leaderboard if the NFL season begins and is cancelled before week 18?
If the NFL fails to complete a full season, the winner of the competition will be whoever is in first place at the time the season ends (regardless of how many weeks are completed). Any tie atop the leaderboard will be broken in the same manner as described above.
