Patrick Cantlay finishes ninth at 2022 American Express

Fantasy Impact:

Cantlay, the reigning PGA Tour champion, got off to a wicked hot start with a 10-under-par first round, but he was much more modest in the final three rounds, including a third-round that yielded a score of Even par. This was a bit shocking to see someone as consistently dominant as Cantlay falter after day one, but he should continue to be valued as a blue-chip prospect moving forward. Cantlay had virtually no flaws in his game last season, so it might be a bit of offseason rust to shake off in these early events. He has yet to finish outside the top ten in either event he's competed in this season, which is why Cantlay remains third in OWGR.
