This is a special post for all you last minute drafters that are scrambling to get ready in time. I have been amazed at how many people are searching at Google and at FantasyPros for our friends Andy Behrens at Yahoo and Pat Fitzmaurice at Pro Football Weekly. I guess I shouldn’t be shocked since they came in first and second place in our 2009 Accuracy Study!
Given the high demand for their rankings, I thought it might be helpful to put together a little “players to target” list based on their consolidated cheat sheets. To get to the draft list, I’m comparing their rankings to the Expert Consensus Ranking (ECR) and the Average Draft Position (ADP). All of this is information you can get at FantasyPros.com.
I know you’re scrambling and running out of time before your draft, so I’ll stop talking and just get to the list. If you trust Andy and Pat, here are a few guys you might want to target in your draft…
Running Backs
Jahvid Best (DET)
Arian Foster (HOU)
Tim Hightower (ARI)
Leon Washington (SEA)
Wide Receivers
Pierre Garcon (IND)
Johnny Knox (CHI)
Devin Hester (CHI)
Mike Williams (TB)
James Jones (GB)
I came up with this list by comparing Andy and Pat’s consensus rankings to both ECR and ADP. Their consensus rankings had the above players ranked considerably better than the Expert Consensus Rank, and both of their individual rankings were better than each player’s ADP.
Note that I’m not saying that Andy and Pat have specifically mentioned these players as guys to target (although since I’m a fan of their insights I can verify that they’ve mentioned a few of them); I’m just using an objective process of looking at their rankings vs. ECR and ADP to get to who they like better than the average expert and the average Joe. The players above are the undervalued guys that they’re likely happy to pick up at the right price.
I hope this was helpful to at least one last minute drafter tonight!
Everyone else, stay tuned because we have some cool products launching for the season that we can’t wait to get your feedback on. If “Who should I start?” is on your mind, you should definitely check back in on Thursday.
Speaking of Thursday, enjoy the TNF game and don’t forget to set your lineups! I have Brees and AP so I’ll be glued to the game hoping for a high scoring affair (is 48-42 too much to ask?).
