Dynasty & Keeper League Waiver Wire: Week 12

Devin Funchess seems to finally be hitting his stride

For regular leagues, it’s fairly easy to figure out who the hot waiver names are to add. For dynasty leagues, however, it is much tougher, since the prospects of a player’s entire career must be considered. Put simply, every roster spot on your dynasty team could be considered a commodity, and you need to make the most of each one. This series will focus on adding those players that may, or may not, help you this year, but can help you down the road.

Devin Funchess – CAR – WR

This just in: Carolina is good this year. Funchess is a rookie who is finally hitting his stride, and he’s got a great combination of size (6-foot-4) and speed (4.5 – 40 time). He’s not an immediate plug in for Kelvin Benjamin’s position, but he’s got the talent and now possibly the opportunity to make some noise in the second half of the season.

Chris Hogan – BUF – WR

Hogan isn’t going to ever be the hottest name, but he’s one to look out for as long as Tyrod Taylor is quarterback. As long as Tyrod is there, the Bills won’t be going downfield because of his lack of arm strength, which fares well for Hogan in the slot. He will lose touches from week to week to Charles Clay and LeSean McCoy, but Hogan could be the beneficiary of playing across from Sammy Watkins if Sammy could ever figure out how to produce consistently.

Dontrelle Inman – SD – WR

Inman is a second-year receiver who is filling in now in San Diego. He’s finding his niche as a deeper-threat receiver after the Keenan Allen injury, but although he hasn’t hit his true stride yet. The Charger’s upcoming schedule is decently difficult, but that might just mean that Philip Rivers will be calling on his secondary options more in obvious passing situations against good defenses.

Javorius Allen – BAL – RB

Hopefully you got Allen last week. If not, get him now. Both Dynasty/Keeper and redraft, Allen is a clear cut three-down back behind an obvious run-first team with Joe Flacco now injured. However, if you don’t have him and have the opportunity to trade or wait, I would wait. For me, he’s a long-term hold, but a short-term wait and see. He could be dealing with a lot of stacked boxes in the short term.

J.J. Nelson – ARI – WR

Nelson is a pretty good receiver who’s buried on the Arizona depth chart. We’re seeing him rise to the occasion when receivers like Michael Floyd don’t play, but he and John Brown, along with Larry Fitzgerald, have generally been tough in playing through injuries. It might be a year or two before you can cash in on Nelson, but I could see him being a legitimate option at receiver in a few years.
