Pitcher

Gio Gonzalez (WAS): $18,600 vs. PHI
Despite the recent no-hitter and the status he holds as an extremely large favorite tonight, I’ll fade Jake Arrieta considering his hefty price. While it’s hard to avoid Arrieta in cash games, for this tourney lineup I’ll have my staff led by Gonzalez. He carries great strikeout upside and faces a weak Phillies’ lineup in Washington. Gonzalez has totaled more than a strikeout per inning over three starts this season while limiting walks and posting an impressive 1.42 ERA.

Steven Wright (BOS): $13,200 vs. ATL
I don’t love the value options tonight, so I’m going to side with Vegas who believes Wright and the Red Sox should be able to defeat the Braves. If this game were in Atlanta I’d feel better, but Wright has still been solid and the Braves aren’t a strong offensive unit. The RHP has struck out just under a batter per inning while posting a 1.40 ERA over three starts. It’s worth noting that he’s posted these totals against the Blue Jays (x2) and Astros so far.

Infield

Jean Segura (ARI): $7,600 vs. STL
Along the same lines as Goldschmidt (see below), this game is expected to feature one of the higher run totals of the night. Segura is preferred against LHP, but Wainwright shouldn’t limit the speedy lead-off hitter tonight.

Adrian Beltre (TEX): $9,000 vs. NYY
Beltre and the Rangers face off against LHP C.C. Sabathia at home tonight. Considering there are two weak LHP in this game, it carries the highest combined total for a contest not played in Coors Field tonight. Beltre is the first of several right-handed hitters that I’ll be stacking against C.C. Taking a bit of risk fading Arenado and Donaldson, who are both also facing LHP tonight.

Ian Desmond (TEX): $8,100 vs. NYY
Desmond has picked things up quite a bit of late following his sluggish start. He’s another right-handed hitter in my Rangers stack vs. C.C. tonight.

Outfield

Stephen Piscotty (STL): $7,200 @ ARI
Piscotty has been solid to start the new season, and that’s certainly been the case of late. He has multiple hits in four of his last six games, including each of his past two. He sees a platoon advantage against Patrick Corbin in a great hitting environment.

Starling Marte (PIT): $10,000 @ COL
I chose to spend up on Marte tonight because I think he will go a bit under-owned in a not-so-obvious great matchup. As mentioned with Cervelli, Jon Gray is a reverse splits pitcher while Marte has done better against RHP over the past two seasons, especially in the early going of 2016.

Ryan Rua (TEX): $5,700 vs NYY
Beyond Wright, most of my savings for this lineup comes from Rua. You’ll want to confirm that he’s starting, but he should against the LHP Sabathia. He’s the final right-handed hitter in my Rangers’ stack against C.C.

Utility

Paul Goldschmidt (ARI): $9,600 vs. STL
I’m using some of the money saved to pay up for Goldschmidt. As he’s not facing a LHP, he could be a bit under-owned tonight, especially considering he’s facing Adam Wainwright. But don’t let Wainwright’s track record fool you, he’s been bad so far this season, especially against right-handed hitters. Vegas thinks this one will feature some scoring, and Goldy isn’t the last player from this game you’ll see in my lineup.

Nolan Arenado (COL): $10,200 vs. PIT
Arenado is facing a lefty in Coors. If that wasn’t enough for you, he has four home runs in his last eight games played at home. He’ll be a popular play tonight for sure, but he’s hard to fade.
