We’re back for this week’s two-start pitchers. There aren’t many elite options this week, but there are a few intriguing names to keep an eye on that will likely be available on waiver wires. Martin Perez and Chase Anderson highlight the list of risky but potentially worthwhile two-start pitchers this week.

Must Start
- Zack Greinke (6/13 LAD, 6/18 @PHI)
- Max Scherzer (6/13 CHC, 6/18 @SD)
- Jacob deGrom (6/14 PIT, 6/19 ATL)
- Julio Teheran (6/14 CIN, 6/19 @PHI)
- David Price (6/14 BAL, 6/19 SEA)
If there is ever a week where Teheran will get two wins, this will be it. As good as Baltimore is when matched up against righties, they are nearly equally as bad against lefties, so that makes Price a good start this week. The rest are no brain must starts.
High-End
- Chris Tillman (6/14 @BOS, 6/19 TOR)
- Kyle Hendricks (6/13 @WSH, 6/19 PIT)
- Brandon Finnegan (6/14 @ATL, 6/19 @HOU)
- Carlos Carrasco (6/13 @KC, 6/19 CWS)
- Kenta Maeda (6/14 @ARI, 6/19 MIL)
- Drew Pomeranz (6/14 MIA, 6/19 WSH)
- Yu Darvish (6/13 @OAK, 6/18 @STL)
- Gio Gonzalez (6/14 CHC, 6/19 @SD)
Tough matchups and some inconsistency knock Tillman down a level, but he has been very good this season and has gotten little attention for it. The strikeouts aren’t there for Hendricks, but the ratios are. Finnegan has been great in his past two starts, and a start against the Braves is always something to highlight.
Carrasco is still shaking off the rust, but he has the potential to be dominant. Maeda keeps getting it done, just be careful because Chase Field has been a launching pad. Pomeranz has been great this year but faces two offenses that have hit left-handed pitching well this season.
Darvish has been good in his return, but understandably the Rangers have not allowed him to pitch deep into games, limiting his strikeouts and potential for wins. Gonzalez has gotten a little roughed up of late but is still getting the strikeouts.
Low-End
- James Shields (6/13 DET, 6/19 @CLE)
- Matt Boyd (6/13 @CWS, 6/18 @KC)
- Jordan Zimmermann (6/14 @CWS, 6/19 @KC)
- Chase Anderson (6/13 @SF, 6/18 @LAD)
- Wei-Yin Chen (6/13 @SD, 6/19 COL)
- R.A. Dickey (6/13 PHI, 6/18 @BAL)
- Jimmy Nelson (6/14 @SF, 6/19 @LAD)
- Jerad Eickhoff (6/13 @TOR, 6/18 ARI)
- Francisco Liriano (6/14 @NYM, 6/19 @CHC)
- Martin Perez (6/14 @OAK, 6/19 @STL)
- Marcus Stroman (6/14 PHI, 6/19 @BAL)
Shields has gotten roughed up in each of his past two starts, and he has two more tough matchups this week. Boyd hasn’t been able to pitch deep into games, but he has held his own. Zimmermann is crashing back to Earth, and the strikeouts aren’t there to save his value.
After getting shellacked throughout the first month of the season, Anderson has quietly put together several respectable outings in a row. Chen has been okay but not much more than that.
If you can get Dickey in your lineup for just the Philly game, that would be worthwhile, but if you have to start him in both, stay away. Nelson has a terrible home/road split, and his last road start is evidence as he allowed six earned runs in four innings. Eickhoff is also a disaster on the road so this week will test him.
Liriano could go in so many different directions as his volatility early this season is even greater than usual. Perez could be a sleeper streamer this week as he faces two cushy matchups, but this one could backfire. Stroman is a start against Philly but get him out of your lineup for the Baltimore start.
Stay Away
- Aaron Blair (6/13 CIN, 6/18 @NYM)
- Alfredo Simon (6/13 @ATL, 6/18 @HOU)
- *Yordano Ventura (6/13 CLE, 6/18 DET)
- Jered Weaver (6/13 MIN, 6/19 @OAK)
- Edinson Volquez (6/14 CLE, 6/19 DET)
- Ricky Nolasco (6/13 @LAA, 6/18 NYY)
- Ervin Santana (6/14 @LAA, 6/19 NYY)
- Nathan Eovaldi (6/14 @COL, 6/19 @MIN)
- Sean Manaea (6/13 TEX, 6/18 LAA)
- Jesse Hahn (6/14 TEX, 6/19 LAA)
- Colin Rea (6/13 MIA, 6/18 WSH)
- Wade Miley (6/14 @TB, 6/19 @BOS)
- Matt Moore (6/14 SEA, 6/19 SF)
