Bio

John Paulsen has been playing fantasy football for almost two decades and has served up fantasy advice to readers since 2005. Last season, he was named FantasyPros’ Most Accurate Expert of 2010, beating out almost 40 experts from ESPN, Yahoo, FoxSports (and more) in a contest that measured the accuracy of weekly rankings. He has a degree in Industrial Engineering, so he utilizes his statistics background to deliver some of the best advice available.

For the past few seasons, John’s fantasy posts have been published on The Scores Report, but he launched FantasyShrink in 2011, and it will host his content going forward. Every week, he publishes Waiver Wire Watch, Love ‘Em & Leave ‘Em (start/sit recommendations) and Defensive Team By Waiver Wire (DTBWW), along with his weekly rankings and other week-to-week fantasy content. He also is the founder and editor of FantasyIntersection, which serves as a clearinghouse of the best free expert content found on the internet.

In 2007, John was also awarded the Best Humor Article by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association.

John is a model of consistency and genius (1st here at Fantasy Pros in 2010 and 2nd in 2011). I’ve followed his advice for the past two years and doing so has lead me to two consecutive divisional championships and a league championship. From pre-draft day jitters to the day you’ll be drinking a beer out of that league championship trophy of your own, there’s no safer nor smarter money week in and week out than John Paulsen. He and Josh Moore from 4for4 have a great synergy as well, both belong on your twitter feed and bookmarked pages for fantasy advice. Fantastic, hyper-detailed and friendly advice, one really can’t laud the man enough.

  2. skibbeb says:

First year being on Twitter and I have to say following John during the football season was great. Never have won a Fantasy Football league coming into this year, but that changed. I won both fantasy leagues I was in. Id like to take all the credit but every week I used John’s rankings as my guidelines. Thanks a bunch !!

  3. LoganHero says:

I just won the Championship in one league and 2nd in the other. I owe these wins to John and his expert advice. He saved me from myself all season! thanks John!

  4. Joel says:

Great advice from a true expert!

  5. Azzurri says:

Gotta say John has been on his game this year and one of the few i compare my projections to…good work JP!

  6. jason says:

I’m playing for the title this week. Nuff said! Seriously though, John has been spot on all year and I echo much of the same from previous posts: always answers questions with thoughtful reasoning and his rankings speak for themselves. Thanks again sir!

  7. Dave Z says:

The guy is gold. First, he WILL answer any intelligent question you have on football. This amazes me! Second, he is usually spot on with his advice. The stats show he is the best!

  8. moondoggy says:

I’m just grateful I found John Paulsen and the Scores report in time for him to recommend starting Vincent Jackson against the 49ers. He is accurate, courteous and takes the time to answer questions posted. Thanks again John,

    Mick

  9. Prasanna says:

John is brilliant and very prompt with his advice. I am in the playoffs and he has helped me this year to get there.

  10. crumpzilla says:

Bump ats3409. Very thorough and prompt replies in his q&a section. Five stars.

  11. Jodi says:

Love reading the Scores Report blog. John offers thorough advice and his posts are smart and funny. His Q&A columns (where he answers your specific questions that can’t be answered by his rankings) are really great.

  12. nate06 says:

Extremely sharp analysis, and really well-written blog.

  13. wawi says:

Great advice from a true expert! Is on point more often than not. Thanks Jp!!

The best thing I like about JP is tht you can ask him a question on his site and he will respond. Rare activity for a FREE site.

absolutely the best advice time and time again.

  16. Crewsilini says:

Awesome advice…I look forward to reading this guy’s columns for a long time going forward.

  17. Logan says:

My only regret is how long it took me to find John Paulsen and FantasyPros.

  18. J says:

Excellent call with QB Eli Manning.

Helped me sort out the best choice of the close rankings of Roethlisberger and Michael Vick.

  19. Faro says:

Really the place to go for advice, bar none. Don’t miss DTBWW.

  20. dupe76 says:

JP thoroughly researches and really knows his stuff. He is light years ahead of the “experts” on some of the bigger websites. I haven’t found a better source for fantasy analysis and advice.

  21. BrianFrac says:

John’s expertise has me on a hot streak. Everytime I go to him for trade and/or waiver wire advice he hooks me up with the correct move. I’m checking John’s weekly rankings before any other experts. I appreciate his knowledge more than I do watching Eastbound and Down, which says a lot considering how much funny I have going on. Thanks again John

  22. deepseed says:

John is the real deal — he knows his stuff.

  23. Dr. Ebola says:

I’m a stats-driven guy but if all my research piles up to a standstill and I need a decision, I always ask JP. I sleep pretty soundly if his advice is the deciding factor.

  24. dan m says:

JP is the man. Extremely nice guy with insightful and, above all else, ACCURATE tips. Altruism is not dead. Thanks John!

  25. nestahope says:

@ JP thanks again… you are the best. 10

really like his advice, great guy to go to.

Really like John’s advice. He’s the best fantasy expert out there.

  29. Prasanna says:

John has constently given me good advice this year through first 5 weeks and has helped me with my 5-0 start !
I think he has the great ability to weigh the variables involved accurately and to come up with right call most of the time.

    Definitely an Expert !

  30. BJ says:

JP is the man when it comes to Fantasy Football advice. He has helped me in 3 different drafts and each time my squad is in the runnning for the League Title. The dude is surgical in his analysis and waiver wire pickups!

  31. DaKid says:

I’ve been rolling with JP & the Scores Report team for about 3 years now……I have 4 championships because of his advice! ( 2 in Basketball & 2 in football )

  32. Booter43 says:

John has consistently given me good advice from who to start and sit and what defense to pick up on a weekly basis.

  33. strykteam says:

JP has been my go to fantasy source expert for Baseball, Basketball, and Football for quite some time now. I have never asked a question that he didn’t have immediate advise based on solid percentages and thorough insight of the game.

    He truly is an Expert!

Extremely thorough with his advice – has helped me win 1 championship and gets me to the playoffs every year.
