Carlos Santana and the Arizona Diamondbacks are reportedly in agreement on a deal. According to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic, it is a one-year pact. The Diamondbacks will need to make a corresponding move once Santana completes his physical and the deal becomes official. (Ken Rosenthal on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Santana, who will turn 40 in April, has had a long and productive career in the major leagues. While he's only a lifetime .241 hitter in 16 seasons, his plate discipline is outstanding as evidenced by his 1,330 career walks and .352 on-base percentage. Santana is the active leader - and tied for 40th all-time - in career walks. The switch hitter has 335 career home runs and 1,880 career hits, but struggled to the tune of a .219 average and 11 home runs with the Guardians and Cubs last season. While not the same player he once was, Santana will likely be penciled in as Arizona's regular first baseman and should be good for double-digit home runs and a solid on-base percentage.
