The Fake Football
It's difficult for Newton to be a bad fantasy quarterback, even without a ton of receiving options, because of his ability to run. He makes for a safe pick after the top three options this season.
RG3 has plenty of upside, but may have some growing pains in Gruden's new offense. Much of his past fantasy greatness stemmed from his rushing ability and that could be curtailed this season, but he'll also have a healthy Garcon, DJax and Reed to help him out.

Jon Collins
Fantasy Sports LR
I'm as troubled by his lack of weapons as anyone, but Newton's work as a rusher gives a very high weekly floor. If the o-line holds, its possible that the current receiving corps is as productive as a Smith/Ginn/LaFell trio anyhow.

Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
The "downgrade" in Newton's supporting cast is insanely overhyped. He's still a top-5 threat.
RG3 is past his knee injury and he's in an offense that should maximize his talents. If Jay Gruden can make Andy Dalton an elite fantasy passer, RG3 is primed for success.

Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Newton was the third ranked fantasy quarterback in 2013, despite not having any dominant skill position players to help his numbers. The only saving grace for Newton is the Panthers added WR Kelvin Benjamin in the draft and he has been as good as advertised in training camp. If Benjamin can produce and stay healthy, the Panthers may have enough weapons to move the ball through the air.
When I watch RGIII, I see a quarterback with bad footwork that can't figure out how to get out of bounds when he takes off down the field. Also, Jay Gruden does not want to call a ton of designed running plays this year. I don't see RGIII as a refined enough passer to finish in the Top 10 nor do I see him as durable enough to make it there as a runner.

James Hatfield
Hatty Waiver Wire Guru
Cam is a solid QB, but from Fantasy perspectives he is not quite top 5.
With some new weapons and an offense not as focused on the run Griffen's upside is very solid.

Sablich Brothers
The NY Times
Back and ankle injuries could lead to less rushing attempts. O-line is shaky at best.
Gruden's attempt to mold him into a pocket passer a failure thus far.

Tom Schriner

***Newton has suffered a hairline fracture to the ribs and is questionable for Week 1 of the NFL season.***If I were needing to pick a quarterback to start up an actual NFL franchise, Newton would be a top-5 choice of mine, possibly even top-3. Unfortunately this is not the NFL, this is fantasy football. His overall offensive statistics have gone down each and every year since he has been a rookie, but you can't blame it only on injuries; the surrounding offensive cast is sub-par. Once again there has been a major turnover with the receiving group and to make matters worse, this new group actually is inferior to last years laughing stock of a squad. If he were on the Detroit Lions Newton would be a sure-fire top-5 pick. On the Panthers he is where he is, a QB2 with the potential for a very nice week from time-to-time.
***Griffin continues to struggle in the preseason as the conversion to a pocket passer has been tougher than what people had expected.***Two words for you, Andy Dalton. Two more words for you, Jay Gruden. RG3 is said to be looking better than ever via several different media outlets and sources so health should not be an issue. Add in the fact that Griffin has a very solid group of receivers to throw to led by former Eagle DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon and you can't help but get excited. But OC Gruden will be the cherry on top of this sundae. He turned the Red Rifle into one of the best fantasy quarterbacks last season and I predict that Griffin will enjoy similar success. Just don't expect nearly the rushing yards as he had in his first year in the league.

Tozzi Brothers
Legion Report
The Carolina Panthers have one of the worst, if not worst, Offensive Lines in the NFL this season. Coupled with this, the Panthers have a completely new WR Corps in Rookie WR1 Kelvin Benjamin, Free Agent WR2 Jerricho Cotchery and Free Agent WR3 Tiquan Underwood. To top things off, Newton has had very little work with his brand new WR’s due to recovery from ankle surgery. The ankle surgery was to tighten the ligaments in his foot that has been an issue since his days at Auburn, which is very concerning for the 2014 season.
RG3 is now almost a year and a half removed from his ACL injury and reportedly “looks like a different QB.” Washington will have DeSean Jackson running deep routes alongside Pierre Garcon while TE Jordan Reed (who has the Aaron Hernandez ability) dominates the middle of the field. Washington signed Pass-Happy Coach Jay Gruden this offseason, who led Bengals Andy Dalton to a Top 5 Fantasy QB finish last season. Expect a major bounce back year for RG3.

Pat Fitzmaurice
The Football Girl
His subpar WR corps is less of a concern than his deteriorating O-line.
He's looked terrible in the preseason. Small sample size, but ...

The rib injury could cut back on him running the ball at the goal line.

Offseason ankle surgery, cracked ribs and no-name cast of WRs have his stock plummeting, and I'd be more than happy to take advantage of the discount

Griffen is healthy, surrounded by play makers and is being coached by pass-happy Jay Gruden. Look for RG3 to have a monster year.
