Jamaal Charles: ‘I want to play another six years’

Will Jamaal Charles be able to defy Father Time?

Will Jamaal Charles be able to defy Father Time?

Jamaal Charles is feeling good, regardless of the fact that he’s currently 28 years old. While the shelf life of most running backs in the NFL seems to land around the age of 30, Charles is ready to be the exception to that rule.

“I want to play another six years,” Charles told KCChiefs.com. “I’m seeing guys at 37 or 38 still playing football in the trenches and that’s somewhere where you don’t want to play. So I just want to change the game with the running backs. I want this to last longer and then when I retire, I’ll be happy with where I end my career at.”

Over the last six seasons, Charles has fallen below 1,000 yards one time, which came in 2011 when he only played in only two games due to an injury. He’s also averaged five yards per carry or more each season, while scoring a total of 39 touchdowns over the six-year span.

Fantasy Impact

What else can you say about Charles? He’s one of the top fantasy running backs entering 2015 and will be the No. 1 pick in many drafts, especially considering Le’Veon Bell’s suspension. To sum it up best, Charles is a fantasy stud.

For fantasy owners playing in dynasty leagues, if you have Charles, just hold on tight. He seems to be completely serious about his intentions of playing for six more seasons, and I’m not going to be the one to doubt him. For players in re-draft leagues, well, Charles is the man you’ll want to target if you have a top pick, and there’s no reason to stress drafting him.
