Fantasy Football Bold Predictions: Week 1
Ryan Tannehill's new weapons should help him terrorize the Redskins' defense in Week 1

Ryan Tannehill’s new weapons should help him terrorize the Redskins’ defense in Week 1

Bold predictions will be featured weekly and I will give one prediction at the quarterback, running back and wide receiver positions. The number of correct predictions will be mentioned in the following week’s article. These will be predictions that shed light on how I view the player’s prospects for that week. In other words, if I predict “Player A” to run for 200 yards and two touchdowns, at worst I still believe he will have a very big week. Bold predictions must be within 3.5 points of the actual outcome to be a success. Without further ado, my bold predictions for Week 1.

Quarterback

Ryan Tannehill – MIA at WAS: On Sunday, Tannehill will trot onto the grass at FedEx Field ready to start the season against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins own a defense that finished 24th in pass yards allowed per game and gave up 27.4 points a game in 2014. Without major upgrades on the defensive side of the ball, I expect the improved Tannehill to come out hot in Week 1. Playing with new weapons Kenny Stills, Jordan Cameron and DeVante Parker will be a blessing for the Dolphins quarterback.

Prediction: 270 Pass YDS, 3 TDs, 30 Rush YDS, 0 INT – 25.8 PTS

Running Back

Jeremy Hill – CIN at OAK: Playing at Oakland Week 1 is exactly why Jeremy Hill will be owned in most DFS leagues to start the 2015 season. Expectations should not be tempered as I believe Hill will blow up in his 2015 premiere. Hue Jackson loves to run the football. The Bengals are the better team here and should be playing with the lead for most of the game. I expect Hill to carry the rock 20+ times and reach the end zone twice.

Prediction: 134 YDS, 2 TDs – 25.4 PTS

Wide Receiver

Jordan Matthews – PHI at ATL: Matthews has created buzz all offseason as he takes over the No. 1 wide receiver role in Chip Kelly’s offense. I expect Matthews to ball out in Atlanta on Monday Night Football to start the season. Atlanta ranked 32nd in pass yards allowed per game last year, and Matthews will have a ton of balls thrown his way from Sam Bradford. The 6-3, Vanderbilt product poses matchup nightmares all over the field.

Prediction: 8 REC, 108 YDS, 1 TD – 16.8 PTS
