Quarterback and Tight End Streamers: Week 12

Quarterback and Tight End Streamers: Week 12
Brian Hoyer is the latest QB to take on the New Orleans Saints porous secondary

Brian Hoyer is the latest QB to take on the New Orleans Saints’ porous secondary

With more and more fantasy owners opting to wait on the quarterback and tight end positions in drafts, streaming each position has become a viable option. This is made easier by the fact that there are usually solid options on the waiver wire. Each week this column will scour the waiver wire and look for quarterbacks and tight ends who are less than 50% owned and could be worth starting for your fantasy team. All ownership percentages come from Yahoo fantasy leagues and all references to fantasy points allowed per game come from the fantasy points allowed (PA) reports on FantasyPros.

Quarterback

Brian Hoyer – Houston Texans (10% owned)
vs. New Orleans Saints

Hoyer is expected to return from a concussion suffered in Week 10 just in time for a prime matchup against the Saints’ porous secondary. New Orleans is allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks at 24.9. Before their bye week, they allowed Kirk Cousins to throw for a career-high four touchdowns to go along with 324 passing yards. Look for the Hoyer-to-DeAndre Hopkins connection to be a top-scoring stack in Week 12.

Johnny Manziel – Cleveland Browns (5% owned)
vs. Baltimore Ravens

Manziel has been named the team’s new starter, and he gets a great matchup against Baltimore’s burnable secondary this Monday night. The Saints are currently the only team allowing more fantasy points per game to opposing signal callers. Manziel showed definite promise in his last start against the Steelers, passing for 372 yards and one touchdown. Better still, he appeared calm and in charge behind center. With emerging weapons Travis Benjamin and Gary Barnidge, Manziel is one of the top streaming options in Week 12.

Tight End

Kyle Rudolph – Minnesota Vikings (40% owned)
@ Atlanta Falcons

Rudolph had a huge game in Week 11 against the Packers, securing 6-of-9 targets for 109 yards and one touchdown. He also came close to a second touchdown but was underthrown by Teddy Bridgewater. That was probably the best game he will have all year, but he’s still worth streaming this week if you are in need of a tight end. Rudolph could also have had a touchdown in Week 10, but he dropped an easy pass in the end zone. Scoring opportunities have been there for Rudolph and that’s one of the main things to consider when streaming the position. The Falcons have been a favorable opponent, allowing the sixth-most points per game to enemy tight ends.

Heath Miller – Pittsburgh Steelers (29% owned)
@ Seattle Seahawks

Miller gets to take on a Seahawks’ defense that has historically struggled to cover opposing tight ends. With Ben Roethlisberger back from a foot sprain and Richard Sherman expected to lock down whichever receiver lines up on his side of the field, look for additional targets to come Miller’s way. Miller has seen 26 targets over his last three games, meaning he should provide at least a decent floor this weekend. The Seahawks are currently allowing tight ends to score 11.0 points per game, fourth-highest in the league.
