FanDuel PGA Lineup Advice: FedEx St. Jude Classic

FanDuel PGA Lineup Advice: FedEx St. Jude Classic
Rickie Fowler is the top play of the week, and he’s going to be hard to fade

This Thursday, the FedEx St. Jude Classic kicks off in Memphis, Tennessee. This is not nearly as competitive of a field as we saw last week, but rather than make your job easier when it comes to drafting a daily fantasy golf roster, it will actually make the last half of your roster much more difficult to draft.

At FanDuel, the scoring system has just recently changed, and this creates a little more confusion. For your benefit, I’ve put together a roster, breaking down some of the key elements below. The dollar amount included is the golfer’s salary on FanDuel.

Recommendations

  • Rickie Fowler: $10,500
  • Francesco Molinari: $8,700
  • Russell Henley: $7,600
  • Peter Uihlein: $7,000
  • Kevin Tway: $6,900
  • Kyle Stanley: $6,800
  • J.T. Poston: $6,300
  • Luke List: $6,200

Remaining Salary: $0

Reasoning

Rickie Fowler is the most expensive golfer entered in this tournament, as per FanDuel’s ranking system, and there’s a good reason for that. He has made the cut in nine of his last 11 tournaments and has the highest fantasy point average per tournament of anyone entered. The only downside to drafting Fowler is that he’s expensive, and this will have a negative impact on who you are able to draft at the bottom of your roster.

Francesco Molinari might be a surprise here, but he’s made 11 out of the last 12 cuts and has a surprisingly high fantasy point average with his 78.3 per tournament. This puts him in a good position going into this tournament, and he is at a good price in this situation.

Peter Uihlein is another golfer who is a steal at the price he’s been given. He has performed at an exceptional level over his last three tournaments. Although he only has a handful of tourneys under his belt, he has a higher fantasy point average than Fowler at this point in the season. This is a weaker tournament, but he is still priced below average. This is likely to be the last time that happens this PGA season.

In the bottom portion of the roster, Kyle Stanley might be the best value pick. At his salary and his average of 72.3 fantasy points over the course of the season, Stanley is a strong choice. He’s made 14 out of his last 17 cuts, which shows that he has a very strong chance of being relevant on the final day of this tournament.
