FanDuel PGA Value Plays: WGC Bridgestone Invitational

The top golfers from all over the globe will take on the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The Bridgestone Invitational invites golf’s elite and will absolutely test the best. It’s a whopping 7,400-yard, par-70 monster that big bombers have taken advantage of in the past. The last four winners at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational have been Dustin Johnson, Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy, and Tiger Woods, all great ball strikers that hit the long ball. There are some great players in the field at even better prices. Here are the three I have set aside from the pack.

Kevin Chappell $7,500
Chappell had a fantastic week at the Canadian Open, finishing T-8 at Glen Abbey. Chappell was right there behind Charley Hoffman coming into the final round but shot a mere 71 to cap off a great week. Chappell made his first appearance at the Bridgestone Invitational last year and finished T-3. Chappel has solidified himself as a premier ball striker on tour and currently sits ninth in ball striking this season.

Gary Woodland $7,500
Another guy who had a great finish last week was Woodland. The former basketball star finished fourth at Glen Abbey and will look to carry that momentum into this week. Woodland crushes the ball, averaging 305.5 yards per drive this season. Not to mention, Woodland averages a club head speed of 122.08 with his driver. On a 7,400-yard course like Firestone CC, having a 9 iron or wedge in your hand is definitely better than a mid iron. Woodland will look to turn some heads this week in Akron.

Kyle Stanley $6,700
I still cannot believe Stanley is at this price. This will be my super sleeper pick at this price, but I do not know how you can put the top rated ball striker on the PGA Tour under $7,000. Anyway, this course sets up very well for the 29-year-old. Along with Brian Harman, Stanley sits 16th on tour in par 4 performance. With 12 par 4s at Firestone, consistency and efficiency are very important. Stanley could potentially win his first big tournament this week at Firestone CC.
