There is value galore of this slate, especially at running back and tight end, so as you might expect, those extreme values will dictate how most of the ownership will fall into place this weekend. People will be more willing to spend on the elite wide receivers even though their prices are a bit too high, plus we should even see people paying for the top defense, which is a rarity on DraftKings. Let’s dive in and take a look at who will be the most owned players and how you can use that to your advantage.

Quarterback

We all know Watson has been slaying his opponents, and recency bias plays a hefty role in determining ownership, so when you pair that with his matchup and terrific salary, it is clear why he will be the top owned player at the position. Brady should be far above the rest of the field, as he is the clear-cut top projected player this week with Aaron Rodgers traveling to Minnesota for a showdown with the Vikings. The other three in the top five all represent solid values, but if you are hoping to score a tournament win with one of them, expect to beat out 10,000+ people with the remainder of your roster because there will be plenty of ownership on each of them.

Running Back

Hunt, Bell, Gurley and Leonard Fournette all have solid matchups, but DraftKings is making it difficult to justify paying up for them this week with some gnarley prices, especially with Le’Veon Bell at $9,600. It becomes even more difficult considering Mark Ingram, at a low price, is now the clear feature-back in New Orleans, while both Jerick McKinnon and Samaje Perine look to fill in for the injured starters with big workloads. There is enough value and strong matchups that you should have no problem finding two or three plays to fall in love with.
Wide Receiver

Coming off the bye, and playing in the dome with Drew Brees is an excellent combination that makes Thomas well worth his price. If it were any other week, Thomas’ ownership would be around 50%, but there are several top receivers, as you can see, who have killer matchups, so the totals will be spread out. Even below the top five, there are players like Adam Thielen and Davante Adams with excellent prices so you’ve got plenty of options depending on if you are choosing to spend up or take the value at running back.

Tight End

Engram burned users last week, and if it weren’t for that recency bias, we might be looking at 40% ownership or higher because with Odell Beckham, Brandon Marshall and likely Sterling Shepard out, he should lead the team in targets as the Giants work to play catch-up against Denver. There are stellar prices all over the board, however, so ownership won’t be too plentiful for anyone. Tight end is always a crapshoot, much like what we know kicker to be, so pick one of the 6 or 7 strong options and cross your fingers for a touchdown or two.
Kicker/Defense

This will likely be the only time all season that we see a defense this expensive projected as the top owned unit. The matchup is too good to pass up in most cases, however, so their cash ownership should be around 55%. There aren’t many other impressive options either, so you might want to begin your cash game lineup by building around them. In fact, they may even be underowned in GPP contests because everyone is trying to get too cute, but the matter of the fact is that they have the highest sack upside, shutout odds, touchdown odds, and so on so don’t hesitate to get a lot of GPP exposure to the Broncos’ DST.
