Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Pickups: 12/6

Ah yes, the New Jersey Devils still leading the Metro division, just as everyone predicted.

Ownership totals are in ESPN leagues as of Wednesday Morning.

Alex DeBrincat (RW – CHI): 41.8%
The diminutive winger might not be seeing as much time with Patrick Kane as predicted during the preseason, but that hasn’t stopped DeBrincat from piling up points lately. Six points in his last five, including a hattie. Granted, the Blackhawks power play is terrible, but in an effort to jumpstart things, Coach Q has even got him out there on the first unit. There was little reason to doubt his skill before the season and he’s proven why the past few weeks.

Noah Hanifin (D – CAR): 28.2%
With such a glut of young, skilled defensemen in Carolina, Hanifin has almost become an afterthought. Over the past few weeks, however, he’s reminded everyone why he was taken 5th overall in 2015. Seven points in his last ten, he’s able to run roughshod over lesser competition as the Pesce-Slavin pairing takes on the tough assignments. The limited TOI remains a concern, but the fact that he’s currently barreling over his competition can’t be ignored – his 58.7 CF% leads the Canes.

Anton Forsberg (G – CHI): 13.5%
Need a goalie for a week or two? Look no further! As Corey Crawford is on IR and J.F. Berube has a case of being J.F. Berube, Forsberg will have to be the guy. And look at this upcoming schedule after the Caps game tonight: Sabres, Coyotes, Panthers. Bad, Terrible, Awful!

Kyle Connor (LW – WPG): 26.7%
Looks like all this kid needed was some seasoning in the AHL. After looking out of place for twenty games last year, Connor has already racked up 17 points in 22 games. Playing with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler certainly doesn’t hurt, nor does all that time on the first unit of the Jets’ power play.
