–Just imagine if the Braves hadn’t lost Kevin Maitan and others this off-season. They are loaded from top to bottom, but especially in the rotation. We already got a taste of what Gohara might be, and it looks special, but right behind him are two handfuls of quality big league arms. Allard has Cy Young type of stuff, Ian Anderson, Joey Wentz and Kyle Muller all have ace upside and both Kyle Wright and Mike Soroka posses high floors and durable builds. Pair all of that with a future MVP candidate in Acuna and the Braves have the looks of a future dynasty if it all comes together like we’ve seen with the Cubs the past few seasons.

–Not only did the White Sox fleece a number of teams via trade over the last few years, but they signed the top international prospect in the world not named Ohtani and they have excelled in the draft over each of the past few years. They have been loading up with pure mashers, as both Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert profile as Manny Ramirez type of bats. Granted, progressing to that stage is a significant challenge, but to even carry that potential is quite rare. Behind them, Blake Rutherford is a toolshed, Zack Collins is an offensive-minded catcher and both Adolfo and Burger has plus-power potential. If that were all, it would be mighty impressive, but their future rotation might be even better with Michael Kopech leading the way, who may very well have the strongest arm of any pitcher in baseball history. After him, Cease and Hansen both have electric stuff while Dunning and Fulmer should prove more than competent to fill out a big league rotation for years to come. Don’t forget that they have Lucas Giolito and Yoan Moncada who just arrived in the majors and are no longer eligible for this list, otherwise Chicago would clearly sit on top of the list.

–There is no denying that what A.J. Preller has done since he took over in San Diego has been unconventional, but in terms of rebuilding a club, it might become the new blueprint. He has filled his minor league teams with the best international talent the world has to offer, and while you may be impressed by their current rankings, each name on this list with the exception of Cordero, who is a darkhorse Rookie of the Year candidate, is likely to take another big step forward in rankings by this time next year. Gore and Tatis both have the makings of top 5 prospects if they continue to improve, while the youngsters, Morejon and Espinoza both have elite potential if they can get and maintain health. San Diego is well worth keeping your eye on while we wait to find out whether all of these boom or bust prospects will work out or not.

–The Rays continue to graduate talent like Jacob Faria, Steven Souza and Alex Colome each and every year, and while it always seems like the end of the line, they replenish their stock with another round of quality youngsters. Honeywell may be the favorite to win the American League Rookie of the Year as a filthy screwball pitcher, and Willy Adames might not be far behind him considering he more than held his own at Triple-A as a 21-year-old last year. Then, they’ve got two guys who may just make an appearance in the MLB-wide top 10 prospects by this time next year in Sanchez and two-way star, Brendan McKay. They’ve got to be excited about what the future holds in Tampa, and perhaps finally we will see them hold enough talent to finally surpass the big spenders and make another playoff run.
