DraftKings MLB Lineup Advice: Friday (9/21)

There’s no full-blown stack touted for tonight’s hitter plays. There are, however, a pair of teammates included below. It’s a bargain-ish group of bats, too, with the highest priced option carrying a $4,500 salary. The result of bargain shopping for hitters is salary space for a pair of high-upside hurlers with a combined salary north of $19,000. If you’re multi entering GPPs or simply looking to pivot to a cheaper SP2 in order to squeeze in an extra expensive hitter, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered on that front as well.

German Marquez (COL): $10,500 @ Diamondbacks
Marquez is the first of the pricey stud arms I teased in the intro. The 23-year-old righty has been some kind of awesome down the stretch. In 11 starts spanning 74.1 innings in the second half, he’s whipped up a 2.78 ERA (2.19 FIP, 2.50 xFIP, and 2.78 SIERA), 1.02 WHIP, 5.8% BB%, 31.6% K%, and 14,8% SwStr%, according to FanGraphs. Marquez struck out just four batter in his last start, but he fanned 11 or more in three straight starts prior, and one of those turns was against the Diamondbacks. Marquez has been a road warrior this year, and in 95.0 innings away from Coors Field, he has a 2.94 ERA (3.05 FIP and 3.34 xFIP), 0.97 WHIP, 6.4% BB%, and 26.6% K%. Circling back to his opponent, the Diamondbacks, they’re a favorable matchup no matter how you slice it. Against right-handed pitchers this year, Arizona ranks 28th in wRC+ (81) and has a 24.1% K%. At home this year, they rank tied for last in wRC+ (83) while fanning in 23.1% of their plate appearances. They’re also limping to the finish line, and they’re 29th in wRC+ (68) while posting a 24.6% K% over the last 30 days. Marquez should carve up The Snakes tonight. The Diamondbacks have a non-threatening team over/under total of only 3.5 runs, per Pinnacle.
