FanDuel MLB Lineup Advice: Monday (4/8)

Welcome to my Monday DFS picks for the FanDuel main slate. There is a good amount of scoring expected on this slate, highlighted by ATL @ COL (10.5 O/U). Three other games (WSH @ PHI, OAK @ BAL, SEA @ KC) also have a 9.0 O/U, so there should be plenty of bats to choose from tonight. We also have six pitchers with a salary of $8,500 or higher, so some of the arms are on the pricier side as well.

Starting Pitcher

Miles Mikolas (STL): $7,500 vs. LAD
FanDuel seems to have a case of the early season overreactions in the case of Mikolas. Mikolas proved he could hang with the big boys last season by posting a 2.83 ERA, 3.28 FIP, and 5.03 K/BB ratio in 200.2 innings last season. He was even better at home last year, posting a 2.17 ERA and 2.87 FIP at home along with a 0.5 HR/9 rate. His biggest problem in his first two starts have been home runs, but it seems highly unlikely that his current 33.3% HR/FB ratio holds over the course of the season. Yes, his first two starts haven’t been great, and yes, the matchup against the Dodgers isn’t exactly a cakewalk, but on a Coors Field slate, I’ll happily take the discount on Mikolas and fade the upper tier of pitchers.

Four-Player Rockies Stack: $13,400 Total Salary vs. ATL

Garrett Hampson (2B): $2,600
Trevor Story (SS): $4,300
Raimel Tapia (OF): $2,500
Charlie Blackmon (OF): $4,000
If there’s one thing Atlanta starter Julio Teheran struggles with, it’s the long ball. Teheran has allowed 57 home runs over his last two seasons coming into 2019 and also has a career 41% flyball rate against. The launch angle revolution came hard for Teheran and is a big reason why his career took a nosedive over the last two years.
