DraftKings MLB Lineup Advice: Wednesday (8/21)

As we reach the halfway point of the workweek, the MLB delivers an 11-game DraftKings slate on Wednesday night. There are some intriguing options on the mound including a couple dirt cheap pitchers who have pitched well recently. After securing your ace, the next step is to determine how cheap you are willing to go at your second starting pitcher slot. The decision will determine how many higher-priced hitters you can jam in.

As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS.

Justin Verlander (HOU): $12,000 vs. DET
Coming into my research for the Wednesday night slate, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to pay $12K for Verlander. However, after some analysis, it seems obvious that he is worth paying up for in this spot. He’ll face his former club, the Tigers, as a mammoth Vegas favorite at home. Verlander has registered double-digit strikeouts in six straight starts while allowing two or fewer runs in five of those outings. Meanwhile, the Tigers have the third-highest strikeout rate (27.9%) versus righties over the last 30 days while posting a .290 wOBA (27th) and 78 wRC+ (26th) during that stretch. Verlander could threaten his season-high 15 strikeout performance against the Tigers on Wednesday night. Lock him in!
