The XFL got off to a good start with some entertaining football and some fun DFS action. Now that we have a week’s worth of data available, we have a better idea of what teams’ offensive tendencies might be and which players are seeing the most looks. However, be careful not to overact as there could be bounce-back performances from some of the players and teams that had a lot of hype coming into the season but underperformed in Week 1. Especially those teams that are expected to get their number one signal caller back this week.
So, with that who are my top players to target at each position for Week 2…

Quarterback
Landry Jones (DAL): $19 @ LA
Jones is slated to make his XFL debut this week and despite the hype around him and the Renegades as one of the top teams in the league, his salary is only the fourth-highest for a starting QB this weekend. He will face the Wildcats defense that was just lit up by the Roughnecks quarterback Phillip Walker last week for 272 passing yards and four touchdown passes Even without Jones at QB last week the Renegades still lead the league in pass-to-run ratio and they could be involved in a shootout against Los Angeles on Sunday.

Running Backs
Jhurell Pressley (DC): $17 vs. NY
When determining which running back to use when filling the one required spot on FanDuel, I need a guy who is involved both on the ground and through the air and should get any goal-line carry if one presents itself. Pressley is that guy for me this week after he had had 12 carries and three targets in Week 1. He should have a favorable game script this week with the Defenders as about a touchdown favorite at home against the Guardians. Meanwhile, despite winning the Guardians allowed a feature back, De’Veon Smith, to pound out 79 yards on 16 carries (4.9 YPC) last week.

Wide Receivers
Rashad Ross (DC): $18 vs. NY
Ross maximized his limited opportunities in Week 1 reeling in both of his targets for 52 yards and a score. His involvement in the passing game should rise as he gets more in tune with the playbook and quarterback Cardale Jones. That increase could come as soon as this week with Ross listed as a starter on the depth chart and playing in a beatable matchup against a Guardians team that allowed big gains through the air to Vipers wide receivers last week with a total of 12 catches for 212 yards (17.7 YPC).
Jeff Badet (DAL): $15 @ LA
Badet could be a forgotten man this week after he put up a dud in Week 1 with three catches on four targets for a meager six yards. However, as mentioned in the quarterback section, Landry Jones will be under center this week which I expect to make a big difference for the Renegades passing game. This should include pushing the ball down the field utilizing Badet’s elite speed. This could be the week to get Badet under-owned and at a reasonable price tag on FanDuel.
Joe Horn Jr. (NY): $14 @ DC
Looking at the final stat line for Horn Jr. last week with two catches for 27 yards shouldn’t get you too excited. However, he led the team in targets with eight looks. The Guardians were able to get away with a conservative offensive game plan last week as they had the game under control but that shouldn’t be the case this week as a road underdog against the high-powered Defenders offensive. The Defenders allowed five catches for 88 yards and two scores to slot wide receiver, Austin Proehl, last week and could allow Horn to capitalize on his targets this week.
