FanDuel XFL DFS Lineup Advice: Week 4 (2020)

FanDuel XFL DFS Lineup Advice: Week 4 (2020)

As Week 4 of the XFL season gets ready to kickoff, we have seen enough football to start to give up our preseason notions and give in to the realities of what we see with our eyes and in the box scores. Sure, there will still be some “where did that come from” moments like the Wildcats romp over the Defenders last week, but for the most part players seem to have settled into their roles in the offense that we should expect going forward.

So, with that let’s find out who are top players to target at each position on FanDuel for Week 4…

Quarterback

Phillip Walker (HOU): $23 @ DAL
At this point, it seems foolish to recommend or use any quarterback except for Walker in the majority of lineups given the minimal price difference between him and the rest of the quarterbacks. His floor is about equal to the next level of quarterbacks ceiling through the first three weeks of the season. Walker will take his gaudy numbers and the undefeated Roughnecks into Dallas for an interstate matchup against the Renegades in the game with the highest Vegas total on the board by far. The Renegades have allowed league average passing numbers in most categories through three weeks so don’t expect them to slow down the Walker in this one.

Other Notables:

  • Josh Johnson (LA): $21 @ NY

Running Backs

Jhurell Pressley (DC): $12 @ TB
As of now, I’m looking to go as cheap as possible in the running back slot in order to pay up at quarterback and wide receiver. That will likely bring me to using a back from either the Defenders or maybe the Guardians. Pressley left the previous game early with a shoulder injury, so monitor his status and be ready to pivot to Nick Brossette if Pressley is out. The Defenders are a small road favorite in a game with the second-highest Vegas total of the weekend. They will face a winless Vipers team that has allowed at least 115 rushing yards in each of the last two weeks and are giving up 4.38 yards per carry which ranks sixth. They have also allowed a rushing score in two of their three games.

Other Notables:

  • Lance Dunbar (DAL): $16 vs. HOU
  • Donnel Pumphrey (DC): $14 @ TB
  • Darius Victor (NY): $12 vs. LA
  • Nick Brossette (DC): $11 @ TB
  • Justin Stockton (NY): $10 vs. LA

Wide Receivers

Cam Phillips (HOU): $22 @ DAL
Much like Walker at quarterback, it seems foolish at this point to exclude Phillips from FanDuel lineups. Phillips numbers have improved every week including last week with eight catches for 194 yards with three more scores for the second straight week. Some regression figures to be coming at some point but he is clearly the top receiving option on the best passing offense in the league. The Dallas offense should be good enough to force the Roughnecks to continue to put points on the board so another double-digit target effort for Phillips should be coming this weekend. (Note: Phillips did show up on the injury report on Thursday with an ankle injury, so monitor his status leading up to kickoff)

Rashad Ross (DC): $16 @ TB
The Defenders passing game was a chalky option last week including recommendations from yours truly, but the entire offense didn’t show up last week against the Wildcats including Ross who posted just one catch for 17 yards. I’m willing to give Ross and the Defenders a pass for last week as they traveled across the country and go right back to Ross as a reasonably priced wideout this week. Ross is one of the top wide receivers in Air Yards this season according to this tweet.

The DC wideout also draws a favorable matchup this week against the Vipers who have allowed 10.7 receptions for 172 yards (3rd most) and 1.7 TDs (most) per game to the position. Ross should convert those air yards into fantasy points this week.

Adonis Jennings (LA): $12 @ NY
The Wildcats will be without their top wide receiver this week with Nelson Spruce already ruled out. That will open up some opportunities for the other receivers in a very favorable matchup against the Guardians who have allowed the second-most receiving yards (182) per game to wide receivers. Tre McBride was the breakout performer last week with five catches for 109 yards and two scores, but he is nicked up right now and only played 16 snaps last week. Meanwhile, Jennings has had plenty of time on the field this season but just hasn’t been able to connect. That could change this week as Jennings has the second-highest air yards on the Wildcats this season after Spruce. You will want to get some exposure to the Wildcats healthy wide receivers this week and Jennings comes at a discount.

Other Notables:

  • Tre McBride (LA): $17 @ NY
  • Kahlil Lewis (HOU): $16 @ DAL
  • Alonzo Russell (STL): $15 vs. SEA
  • Jordan-Elijah Smallwood (LA): $15 @ NY
  • Eli Rogers (DC): $15 @ TB
