Over the course of NFL history, there have been standout tight ends that have made an impact in the receiving game. However, those players were unique and it was far from being the norm across the league. Traditionally, tight ends were asked to stay in and primarily block with how teams leaned on their run game.
Now, as the NFL leans more and more pass-heavy, tight ends are becoming a valuable mismatch on the field in the receiving game. Players like Rob Gronkowski, Travis Kelce, George Kittle, etc. have made a significant impact on the game because of how they can be a reliable target over the middle of the field.
There are a few players in this tight end class that have the potential to make as much – if not more – of an impact than the players listed above. Which players could step in and contribute at a high level right away? Should any of these players be worth a mid-round pick in 2021 redraft leagues?
