When will Travis Etienne Return from Injury? (Fantasy Football Injury Updates)

Travis Etienne was one of the most hyped rookies of the 2021 draft class given his college production and the fact that the Jaguars spent a first-round draft pick to acquire him. However, his immediate fantasy outlook is clouded by the injury he sustained during Monday’s preseason game against the Saints. When will Travis Etienne return from his injury?

When will Travis Etienne Return from Injury?

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Jaguars RB Travis Etienne suffered a Lisfranc injury during Monday’s preseason game against the Saints.

Fantasy Impact:
Etienne was spotted on crutches after the game. X-rays were negative so the belief is that it’s just a sprain, but further tests will be conducted on Tuesday. For now, James Robinson just became a much more interesting early-season fantasy asset.

What the Experts are Saying

Urban Meyer is certainly known for valuing speed on the football field and the Jaguars have not been shy about their intent to draft Kadarius Toney if he were there at pick No. 25 in the NFL Draft. With Toney off the board, they went with the explosive RB prospect that can absolutely fly in Etienne. My belief is that the Jaguars intend to deploy Etienne as a traditional RB, but then also as a player that they will use all over the formation and simply get the ball in his hands. If that’s the case, Etienne’s going to be extremely valuable for fantasy football right away. He’s a true home-run threat and he’s an excellent receiver out of the backfield. The injury he sustained in the second preseason game makes this a bit of a murky situation, though. There’s a possibility that Etienne misses significant time, which would obviously drop his ADP significantly. We’ll continue to monitor and update with any developments and the fantasy aftermath.
