Dynasty IDP Rookie Prospect Profile
Boye Mafe is considered a bit of a project type of edge rusher in this class, but he has speed and length that can’t be taught. Mafe had the second-best RAS (relative athletic score) behind only Travon Walker at the combine. Mafe had the third-best 40-yard dash (4.53) among edge rushers, tied for the fourth-best vertical (38 inches), and tied for the fourth-best broad jump (10-5). Mafe’s incredible athleticism makes him a very reactionary player, meaning he needs to be more fundamentally sound before he is given much more than passing situations at the next level.
Mafe mainly wins off the edge with speed and doesn’t have an array of moves to beat tackles. He probably won’t ever be a guy who can kick inside, but his incredible speed will allow him to stick with RBs and TEs downfield in the passing game. As a result, Mafe will be valuable in IDP formats that reward sacks, as he will most likely be a pass rush specialist to start his career.
