Luis Robert dealing with leg soreness, should play Thursday
Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa told the media that star outfielder Luis Robert is dealing with leg soreness. He was replaced before the conclusion of Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays, though La Russa admits that “he weighed keeping him in for another at-bat,” according to James Fegan of The Athletic. As of now, Robert is expected to play on Thursday. (Source: James Fegan on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Robert is off to a great start this season, slashing .300/.332/.430 with seven homers, 36 RBI, eight walks, and 42 strikeouts through 53 games. He has also swiped 11 bags on 12 attempts. The 24-year-old ranks in the 91st percentile in xBA (.304) and 97th percentile in maximum exit velocity (114.8 mph). He should be rostered in all fantasy leagues.
Salvador Perez awaits MRI results
Salvador Perez was not in Wednesday’s lineup as he awaits MRI results. His status is uncertain and the Royals are carrying two catcher. (Source: Lynn Worthy on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Perez left Tuesday’s game with a thumb injury. Any long term injury would be unfortunate news for the Royals and fantasy managers. Although his batting average is significantly underwhelming compared to his career numbers, he is still providing power and driving in runs. Keep an eye on updates from the Royals as we should learn more about his status before their game on Friday with Oakland.
Eddie Rosario (eye) nearing return to field
Atlanta Braves outfielder Eddie Rosario (eye) will have his vision re-evaluated on Thursday, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. He hopes for clearance to begin a rehab assignment soon. (Source: Mark Bowman on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Rosario landed on the injured list in late April with what the team describes as “blurred vision and swelling in right retina.” He underwent a procedure and was expected to return in eight to 12 weeks. As of today, he’s roughly eight-and-a-half weeks out. Prior to his injury, Rosario was off to a rough start, going just 3-for-44 with five walks and 10 strikeouts through 15 games. He signed a two-year, $18 million deal with Atlanta this past offseason. The 30-year-old can be left on waivers in most standard fantasy leagues.
Brandon Crawford’s MRI comes back clean
An MRI revealed that Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford has no structural damage in his knee, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. She adds that Crawford could be available in an emergency, meaning he’ll avoid an IL stint and should be viewed as day-to-day. (Source: Susan Slusser on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Crawford suffered the injury on Tuesday against Atlanta and sat out Wednesday’s contest. He has taken a step back in production this season, slashing just .227/.314/.355 with five homers, 30 RBI, 21 walks, and 48 strikeouts. (He hit .298 with 25 homers last year.) The veteran infielder is rostered in 49 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues at this point in the season.
