Fantasy Football Redraft Draft Kit

Chris Godwin and Buccaneers ‘hopeful’ WR will be ready for Week 1

According to an ESPN report from NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are “hopeful” that WR Chris Godwin will be ready for a Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys just 10 months removed from ACL surgery. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: It was recently reported that there is “no timetable” for Godwin’s return to the field, but while speaking on NFL Live, Schefter indicated that a Week 1 return could be a realistic possibility. Prior to this report, it has been highly speculated that Godwin would begin the season on the PUP list which would require him to miss the team’s first six games. Godwin avoiding the PUP list would have major fantasy ramifications for multiple Bucs players. Mike Evans, whose draft stock has gone through the roof under the assumption that he wouldn’t be sharing targets with Godwin, Rob Gronkowski, or former Bucs WR Antonio Brown to start the season, would likely see his draft stock fall back to high-end WR2 territory (currently WR7 in FantasyPros ECR PPR rankings). Russell Gage, who has been a popular later-round target for fantasy managers, as it was believed he would be the number two option in a Tom Brady-led offense, would see his draft stock take a hit as well. Brady, who finished as the QB3 last season, would likely get a slight bump up by having one of his top receiving options available earlier than anticipated (current ECR QB8). Lastly, Godwin, who’s currently ranked as ECR’s WR29, would likely jump back into WR2 territory.

Amari Rodgers ‘positioning himself’ for a larger offensive role

Amari Rodgers has been taking reps in “every receiving role” throughout the Packers’ offseason program, positioning himself for a greater workload than he saw during his rookie season. (Source: Knox News)

Fantasy Impact: Rodgers can only go up from his rookie year that saw him playing a measly 10% of offensive snaps and catching four passes for 45 yards. The second-year WR will look to take in a portion of the 224 vacant targets that have been left behind by the departures of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. If Rodgers is able to find his way near the top of the WR depth chart and build chemistry with QB Aaron Rodgers during training camp, he could be in store for a solid year. For now, though, Rodgers is being drafted at WR89 in full-PPR leagues, according to FantasyPros average draft position.

Raheem Mostert ‘in competition’ for touches in Dolphins backfield

Mike Masala of the Dolphins Wire sees Raheem Mostert as the RB2 in Miami, but notes that he “will need to prove that he’s healthy” before he can begin competing with Chase Edmonds for opportunities. (Source: Dolphins Wire)

Fantasy Impact: Mostert is a part of a backfield that will primarily operate in an RB-by-committee format. Mostert has proven to be an efficient ball carrier throughout his career, and he’ll need to replicate that this year with the limited number of touches he’ll likely receive. The seventh-year RB has only played in nine games over the past two seasons, so his availability will be the most important aspect of the 2022 season for him. In full-PPR leagues, Mostert is currently being drafted at RB48, according to FantasyPros average draft position.

Chase Edmonds the early favorite to lead Miami backfield

Chase Edmonds signed a 2-year, $12.6M contract with the Dolphins earlier this offseason, and is now slated to lead the deep backfield that Miami has assembled. (Source: Dolphins Wire)

Fantasy Impact: The Dolphins added a plethora of RBs to their roster after finishing 31st in the NFL in rushing efficiency in 2021. Though Edmonds will appear as the starter on the depth chart, he will likely have a large chunk of his workload eaten into by Raheem Mostert and Sony Michel. Edmonds will provide more value in PPR leagues because he is the team’s best receiving option out of the backfield. Edmonds is currently being drafted at RB33, according to FantasyPros average draft position.
